There are 2 basic ways the system can operate :
Interestingly enough, clients view business cards as relatively more important products than do printers. New or newly
promoted employees want their cards immediately so they can get on with their new responsibilities. To a printer, however,
a B/C order is not worth very much, rarely profitable, and almost always a nuisance at best and a threat to their client relationship at worst !
Almost all of this frustration for both parties revolves around the card creation and approval elements of the process. Business cards are very personal products and there is constant tension between the constraints of corporate ID standards and the whims of particular individuals who desire specific titles, degrees, nicknames, etc. on their cards. Very often, the printer is in the middle. Again, very often, the printer makes a single tiny error and proofs must be recycled again.
The solution is simple but has been elusive until now ! Let the client's administrator work directly with the user to create and approve a high quality PDF manufacturing master. The printer is no longer involved in the process until the client wishes to submit an order. Only then is an order processed that can then be manufactured in a highly automated fashion.
